okay, first off—
I just wanted to extend my deepest gratitude to all of you for supporting the release of Beneath the Buried Sea. We hit some really great rankings—despite being a sequel!—which was incredibly exciting to see. I also can’t even tell you what it means for my feed to be full of pretty pictures of MY OWN DANG BOOK, as well as my inbox stuffed with messages from lovely folks whose hearts I just broke (and then put back together.)
So, seriously, from the bottom of my heart: thank you. I can’t do any of this without you, and the way so many of you have shown up for a lil worm of an unknown indie author like me is just … well, even I don’t have words for it. And I do words for a living!
If you enjoy my profuse run-on acknowledgments, you can read more in my post below! Also, if you haven’t grabbed your copy of Beneath the Buried Sea, here’s some links to do so: Amazon | signed hardcover.
drafting update
As many of you know, I’m working on my spring 2025 release, a standalone sapphic romantic fantasy called Holy Wrath. I’m coming toward the end of the first act, and I’m really starting to get a feel for the characters and the world. It’s a LOT different than Fatebound, but some things are the same—female rage, hot broody love interest, too much scent description, and an “unlikeable” FMC.
Ophelia is kind of the opposite of Raegan. She’s riddled with anxiety, wildly unsure, and almost always afraid. Where Raegan’s feelings often cause her to jump without looking, Ophelia’s usually cripple her to the point of inaction. She’s soft, too sweet for this world, and very conflict avoidant.
IE - I think she’s really relatable. Especially the moment when the love interest tells her, “Ophelia, you’re not sad. Not really. You’re angry.”
Suffice to say, I cannot wait :-)
one last event for this year!
So excited that my last event for 2024 will be at A Novel Idea, one of my favorite bookshops in the city, AND alongside Katrina N. Lewis, an amazing local author I am lucky enough to call my friend <3
You can learn more about the event and grab a ticket here! I would LOVE to see you there!
lastly, some things I’m enjoying
Mimi Matthews’ Belles of London series: if you are, like me, a horse girl and you also enjoy swoonworthy romance, you’ve gotta check this series out. These books are such an absolute delight and are a wonderful way to escape the world for a little bit. I love each and every one of these characters with my entire heart. And as a writer, I have learned SO much about romance writing from Matthews. These books don’t have open-door scenes, but that absolutely doesn’t mean Matthews isn’t building up the tension and the heat. She’s got me screaming over their hands brushing when they both reach for a teapot, lol.
Nin’s Nails: as aforementioned, I am a horse girl, which means my hands/nails take a beating on a regular basis. I wouldn’t care too much about how they looked were I not a writer, and as such—my hands are constantly visible. Whether it’s a flat lay, a video of me working at my desk, or a signing event where 200 people are gonna watch my hands as I scribble my lil signature lol, I AM BEING PERCEIVED. Generally, I either paint my nails at home or use Kiss press-ons, but I wanted something a lil fancier from a handmade shop to re-wear with sticky tabs at signings and events. However, a lot of makers don’t offer xxs almond, which is the most realistic for me given all the typing and horse girling. Enter Nin’s Nails! I got this set and I am in LOVE. They’re so beautiful! I wore them for an entire signing event (setting up, the event itself + breaking down) and they look unworn. 10/10 recommend!
that’s all for now <3
But I can’t wait to talk more soon! Thank you again for your support. I really hope you enjoyed the ending of Beneath the Buried Sea.
