Hello, my fellow starry-eyed wanderers!
I can’t believe June is upon us so quickly. It feels like just days ago I was preparing (and stressing) for Beyond the Aching Door’s release in late March. It’s been out in the world for nearly three months now. I know I’m a broken record but—thank you endlessly for all your support of my strange, queer book full of ancient yearning.
Happy pride month, by the way <3 Particularly to my fellow bisexual people married to men. Just like Raegan, we’re still queer as hell! If you’d like to read other books with queer M/F couples, make sure you check out two of my favorites: Allison Carr Waechter and Alexia Onyx!
Come see me IRL!!!!
I’m very excited to let you know that I have two upcoming events for the remainder of 2024, as well as a few more that are still pending. Here’s the ones I can tell you about for now:
Book Discussion & Reading at Capricorn Books - Jenkintown, PA
I’ll be at the lovely Capricorn Books on Thursday, June 20 at 7 PM. This is a lovely little bookshop about twenty minutes outside of Northwest Philly. The owner, Jackie, is so kind and talented, and I’d love to pack her shop to the gills! This event is free to attend. You can bring your own copy to be signed, or grab one from me. Click here for details about Capricorn. I can’t wait to see you there! <3
Ink & Indie - Chestertown, MD
RomanceLandia, a lovely online bookshop, is hosting an author signing event in the gorgeous town of Chestertown, Maryland on Saturday, October 5 from 10-3 PM. There will be a bunch of other amazing authors to meet! Tickets go on sale on June 15th. I would LOVE to meet some of you that are a little further down south, and I hope this location is more accessible for some of you. Click here for more info + tickets!
Pretty things for you <3
I finally made a merch design for Beyond the Aching Door that I’m happy with, and I hope you enjoy it, too! Take a peek below.
You can grab this design on a sweatshirt, tote bag and sticker. Additionally, I’m also always thinking about Holly Black’s Tithe (be kind, it’s a medical condition) so I may have whipped up a y2k-esque design inspired by the cover.
This one’s just on a crewneck for now, but it can easily get the sticker + tote treatment if you’d like — let me know in the comments :)
Notes from the writing desk
I’m excited to let you all know that the final installment of The Fatebound Duology, Beneath the Buried Sea, is headed to my critique partner—the first step in the editing process—next week! My draft is nearly done and at this point, it’s absolutely flying. I’m terrified and excited. This story has lived in me for a long time, so getting to write the last few paragraphs (that have been sitting on the Notes app in my phone for approximately two years) will be … phew. Emotional as hell, to say the least!
I hope that it satisfies all of the aches and yearnings I left you with at the end of Beyond the Aching Door. There’s something exhilarating and scary about actually having readers now—about having people just as invested in Raegan and the King’s fate as I am. I can’t wait for you to be reunited with them as they continue their path through all the strange doors and beneath all the buried seas.
You can expect BtBS in the fall—probably late September or early October. Once I have the cover and finalized manuscript back from my proofreader in August, I’ll have a formal date to reveal.
A few other quick notes: ARC sign-ups will open in early August. I’ll have a brief Google form to fill out that will be posted on my social media and included in the newsletter here. I’m looking for people who consistently share, post and review romantasy books—that’s it! Your follower count doesn’t really matter to me. I just need you to be active on at least GoodReads and/or Storygraph :)
Pre-orders for signed hardcovers will go live in July, and I am planning a little pre-order incentive that I’ll reveal when we’re closer. It’s likely that I’ll open pre-orders before I have an exact release date, so please feel free to wait if that makes you anxious! The pre-order incentive won’t have a limit in number; you’ll just need to place your order before the release date.
That’s all for now
And again, I can’t say how much I appreciate you wandering through these strange realms with me. I hope to see you at Capricorn and/or Ink & Indie—or maybe another place sometime soon!
Before you go, don’t forget to grab your bonus content if you haven’t yet. It’s pretty hot, tbh.
Love both those merch designs! I definitely think a sticker of the 2nd is a must (I love a good sticker)!
