gratitude, Evanesence, cover art & more
you're gonna have to read it to figure out how I put all those things together
endlessly grateful, tbh
I want to start this lil newsletter off with how goddamn grateful I am for how intensely all of you showed up—and continue to show up—for Beyond the Aching Door. You might suspect that publishing a book is hard (you would be correct) but you might not realize how lonely it can be. Well, since 3.26.24, I certainly haven’t felt lonely at all. So many of you gleefully dove right into the world I created, and I can’t even express how incredible that feels.
This heartfelt reception from you all makes it wayyyy easier to keep chippin’ away at drafting Beneath the Buried Sea, the second half of the duology, which releases this fall. (And I’m also terrified of letting you all down, lol, but I won’t get into that here.)
The Spiral Bookcase will offer a pre-order of signed hardcovers for BTBS, too! The pre-order should open in the summer, and this time, pre-order customers *should* have their copies on the release date, or ideally, a few days before. It’s currently available for pre-order as an e-book*, too.
Enjoy a little peek at my project brief for Robert Kraiza, the duology’s cover artist, to get an idea for what BTBS will look like!
*ignore the release date! I set Amazon dates out pretty far to give me leeway for any issues.
bonus content incoming
As a thank you, I’ve been drafting some bonus content for newsletter subscribers only. It’s very fun and pretty hot, annnnnnd might just be from someone else’s POV ;) Keep your eyes peeled! To prepare thy souls, I suggest listening to “Good Enough” by Evanescence. (DO NOT JUDGE ME, I PACKED UR BOOKS FOR 5 HOURS STRAIGHT AND THINGS HAPPENED TO ME EMOTIONALLY.)
on the horizon
And some exciting news—I accepted an audiobook deal for The Fatebound Duology! More details to come when I’m able to announce, but for now, know that the audiobooks WILL be available to library users <3
There also may be a ~special edition~ in the works :-) stay tuned, folks!
international shipping now available!
Ye ask, ye shall receive. International shipping is now available at Spiral for Raegan and the King’s admirers aboard! You can also scoop up in-stock special edition books to make the shipping cost worthwhile, if you’d like. (At least, that’s the energy I bring to my Waterstones orders, lol.)
stuff i like
I am a big fangirl for Tamara in general—please tell me you have read The Fall That Saved Us—and their upcoming paranormal-lesbians-in-Appalachia novel looks SOOOOO good. The cover!!! The concept!!! Sign me up. It’s out next week and you can pre-order it here!
This is going to be more for my fellow writers here, or those interested in publishing, but Charlie (of .@charliesbookrecs, of course) recently started a Substack. I can’t recommend it enough—I’ve already learned some really handy things that I didn’t know before. That’s huge in a world so oversaturated by “experts” on publishing. Take a closer look here!
that’s all for now
But we’ll talk again on the next dark moon <3 Until then, take care.
WHY AM I JUST SEEING THIS!! Thank you so so much for the shout out, my friend. Love you and your book and brain endlessly. But also, so interesting to see the brief now vs how it ended up! I love journeys like that!
An audiobook! Special editions! Cannot wait <3
