the road to blackbird hollow opens …
Our cover has officially been revealed! Thank you so much to everyone who participated—it truly made us so happy to see tons of readers excited about Welcome to Blackbird Hollow. And if you’d like to ahead and pre-order Welcome to Blackbird Hollow, here’s some options:
signed paperbacks & hardcovers at The Spiral Bookcase**
**pre-ordered copies will be hand-signed by both Allison and I as she’ll be visiting in the autumn! We cannot guarantee copies in the future will be hand-signed vs. a bookplate.
We’ll be revealing details of the hardcover laminate soon, so no stress if you’d like to wait and see (it’s pretty fucking cool, if I do say so myself.) And lastly, as a reminder, Welcome to Blackbird Hollow is the first of three books! There might also be a spin-off series . . . ;) If you’d like to hear more about that, we have a dedicated newsletter for Blackbird Hollow that you can sign up for here. It’s totally not a bargain or anything.
for my lovely locals
I’ll be at my beloved Capricorn Books this weekend as part of the Philly Bookstore Crawl! Come see me tomorrow, 8/23 from 12:30-1:30 in Jenkintown at one of my fave indies ever. Just down the street, White Horse Coffee has created a special drink just for the crawl: a Capricorn white lavender mocha! There’s also tons of other participating bookstores to check out with amazing lineups <3
and for further-away kindred spirits
I’ll also be at Ink & Indie in Chestertown, Maryland on October 4. If you pay attention to what kinds of events I do, you know I rarely do bigger signings and conventions—tbh, they’re just not my thing. But Ink & Indie is an INCREDIBLE event that has managed to maintain a small, cozy feeling while getting a lot of cool authors in one spot. That spot also happens to be an incredibly cute small town with a bangin’ farmer’s market and a great coffeeshop, among many other wonderful things. You can grab tickets here!
get those headphones ready . . .
Because I’ve got audiobook release dates for you! Beneath the Buried Sea will arrive on October 21 and Holy Wrath releases on January 6, both narrated by Sara Brodt. You can check out the pre-order links below. Both titles will also be available via library services Hoopla and Overdrive, too!
**Don’t see the platform you’d like to use? More options usually populate the closer it gets to release day, so check back or search for my titles directly on your fave platform.
ICYMI: omnibuses are in-stock
There’s only a few left before these gorgeous, gorgeous gals go back into pre-order status! If you’d like to grab one without a wait time of a month or more, I’d recommend snagging one of the copies now.
(These are big books that are expensive to produce and ship, so it’s more sustainable for me to only carry a small amount at a time and keep them mostly on a made-to-order basis!)
a few things that made me feel joy in this hellscape
I don’t drink anymore and I’m becoming a bit of a mocktail slut. This shrub that I discovered at the Winterthur Artisan Market is on heavy rotation. It works super well with Seedlip Garden 108 and Fever Tree elderflower tonic.
Another Winterthur discovery was this maker of hand-hooked rug art, who I heavily bonded with (mostly through my overexcitement about her work and the kindred spirit moments I shared with her son, who helps her out at events and is also an amazingly talented artist.) We took home a small piece but would love to commission something for above our fireplace one day!
Paintbox Soapworks never fails, and her latest pumpkin (aka weenies) release is a sheer delight. Though my bath & body supplies are currently well-stocked, I’m eyeing “Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground” oil for future purchases.
Lastly, I adore this stupid sweatshirt you can personalize with your pharmaceutical of choice. Though it would be hard to pick just one, I think if I ever ordered it, mine would have to give props to Effexor.
There is still joy to be had, and goddammit, we’re not going to let them take it from us. Whether you’re American or not, keep holding the line against fascism. Keep being yourself, as loudly as you can, and hold your community close. We need each other more than ever—and I hope with my entire heart that the words I write might give you just that little bit of hope or comfort or rage that you need.
