there might be a new book cover in here 👀
and maybe if u click on this, you can see it!
my very first book tour!
And it went so beautifully thanks to you. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to see Allison and I talk about Welcome to Blackbird Hollow, and to all the lovely bookshops that hosted us. This experience is something that I’ve been dreaming about since I was a small thing—I’ve always wanted to be an author—and it still seems surreal it came true <3
If you want to get a taste of the magic yourself, grab your copy of Welcome to Blackbird Hollow now. (It’s also on KU!)

a sneaky little peek, just for you.
I hope you’re starting to get excited about the Fatebound Duology prequel, Between the Rival Courts. We’ll get to see Raegan and the King back in Camelot as Nyneve and Mordred. They’re both young, stupid, horny and so very doomed. Arthurian legends feel like my homeland in a way I can’t explain, and it’s been glorious getting to really immerse myself in the original tales.
Just a reminder that Between the Rival Courts does operate as a connected standalone, so you can read the duology first, or dive in with the prequel!
Okay, I’ll stop yapping now and show you the current draft of the cover, created by the fabulous Robert Kraiza (who did the duology’s covers, too!)
Ugh, don’t they look so hot?! I can’t wait to reveal the final cover and the full wrap. Soon! I expect to have all the details + open pre-orders early next year.
i’m planning something else, too.
I’m mulling over what I would like a Patreon to look like, if I started one. I think a cozy space for us to hang out away from Meta would be wonderful, and as a disabled author, any way to stabilize my income is always helpful.
I’m thinking about offering tiers from $3-30. There will be everything from exclusive art, first looks at WIPs, details on sources I use to research folklore, a weekly Q&A, handwritten notes on Beltane and Samhain, automatic eARCs, exclusive merch, discounts on my books via Spiral, and more!
If there’s something in particular you’d really love to see me offer, I would love to hear about it :)
come see me + frankie diane mallis!
As the year winds down, I think this’ll probably be my last event of 2025 (bro, time fuckin’ fliiiiies.) Me and Sheila Masterson will be double-teaming Frankie on Friday, December 5th at 7 PM to celebrate the release of her latest book, Traitor of the Drowned Empire ;)
We would love to see you at Capricorn Books!!! We’ll be peppering Frankie with questions about her world-building, what the actual fuck is wrong with her that allowed her to emotionally torture us with her books like this, and other fun stuff. This event is free to attend and you can pre-order your copy of Traitor right here if you’d like.
a very magical gift guide.
As always, I like to give you lovely people access before other folks get things, so here’s my gift guide for 2025! When I sold vintage + antique clothing, I used to make a gift guide every year, and for whatever reason people really seem to vibe with the stuff I pick, so I hope this is fun for you.
I think it goes without saying that I’m not down with the hyper-consumerist culture and Christian hegemony that tells us we have to max out our credit cards in order to buy shit from big corporations. BUT … intentional gifting between kindred spirits as a warm glow of light during the winter gloom? Yeah, I’m okay with that.
You can click on a thumbnail to flip through like a digital catalog! If anything catches your eye, I compiled all the direct links here. (No, I don’t earn anything on these, I just love supporting these incredible makers!)

lastly, some things that have brought me joy:
- Keeping a journal with random thoughts because time moves strangely; I like the travelers’ journal in passport-size.
- Focusing on local politics vs. national so I don’t lose my mind and prioritize my energy for things I might actually be able to change.
- Getting a fancy cake from my local bakery because I can.
- One of my dearest friends getting engaged to the love of her life. Good things are still happening!!! Love is real!!!
- The Japanese maple in my yard dropping its bright red leaves, scattering the sidewalks with tiny paper stars like a faerie party is about to begin.
- I, Medusa and The Incandescent; what fantastic character work and mesmerizing narratives!
- Having my office more or less set up (AT LONG LAST) after moving !!!
- Resting even when capitalism tells me I “can’t” <3
that’s all for now!
Talk more soon. Take care of each other.
in love and rage,
Victoria
