want to read my next book early?
it's an Arthurian retelling for sickos
merry equinox!
It’s the first day of spring, which makes all the things I am about to tell you feel even more appropriate. Ahh, the joy of fresh roots in damp soil and a tiny bud growing from the dark decay of dead things, etc etc. I hope if you share this hemisphere with me, you’re able to step outside and close your eyes. The sun is a little stronger today, I think.
apply for an eARC
Applications to receive an early review copy of Between the Rival Courts are officially open! You can apply here. I am so excited to see what early readers think. This story has been in my bones for such a long time, and now she’s almost out in the world.
preorder my Arthurian retelling for sickos
That’s right, pre-orders are open, too! If you pre-order an ebook or a signed hardcover, you’ll receive a bundle of digital goodies in mid-April: an annotated reading playlist from yours truly, a special reader letter, and the first three chapters before anyone else sees them.
Additionally, I’m working with a local printing press this go-around, which means your book will be prettier and higher-quality. But it’s more money upfront, so pre-ordering really helps me defray the cost of making it all happen <3

and some publishing news
I am now represented by Ciara Finan at Curtis Brown! She’s a true lover of romantic fantasy and specifically mentioned wanting books about “unhinged women doing unhinged things,” which is when I knew she was The One.
Being represented by Curtis Brown is stupidly exciting. They’re one of the best literary agencies in the world (that sounds fake so LOOK IT UP if you doubt me!!) and if you told 12-year-old me this information, she would simply perish on the spot.
Not much changes for now; we’re focusing on that mysterious manuscript I mentioned earlier, not my existing titles. I’ll remain a hybrid author, meaning I intend to publish both traditionally and indie :)
come see me in may!
Speaking of news that would make 12-year-old me perish, I’ll be signing at the venerable Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach, DE on May 24 from 11-1 PM. I’ve been getting lost in this bookshop since I was a little kid on beach trips during the summer, so having my books sold there AND doing a signing is so much fun. I’ll have all my titles except for Welcome to Blackbird Hollow in tow (but you can grab a copy signed by me and Allison here, if you’d like!) I can’t wait to see you there!
things to read:
The Stone Circle series by Ophelia Wells Langley. Ophelia is such a lovely human, and you know I’m an absolute sucker for Arthurian retellings, which she does so well in this series.
An interview with the lovely Dr. Lauren Preston Collins. I’m so honored to be her first author interview <3 I love Lauren’s Substack and Instagram page, and her questions were incredibly thoughtful and very fun for me to answer.
Bloody Black by Rhiannon Hargadon. A Blackbeard retelling with femme rage and a morally grey FMC! If you loved Pirates of the Caribbean a lot as a kid and are now into things like Book of Azrael, this one’s for you.
This article from a most excellent substack, Card Catalog. Hana Lee Goldin expresses a lot of things that I already knew, but could never articulate or bring together in this way. It’s such a carefully balanced take on the age of social media and constant flows of information.
things i’ve enjoyed lately:
The new Mitski album. GODDAMN.
A secondhand record player I picked up because I’ve been drawn to vinyl for awhile. Baby’s first record was, of course, Mitski. (The second? Everybody Scream, of course. Both ordered from the fantastic Verbena Vinyl!)
Pretty sticky notes. This sounds dumb, and potentially is dumb, but I use a lot of sticky notes, and pretty ones instead of the typical kind you find in the US is a delightful addition to my workflow. If you saw my planner, you would understand.
The first hints of spring here in Philly, mostly found in the flowering snowdrops and anemones, but also in the return of the dirt bikes, a pillar of our culture.
Wearing Babylon Rose by LVNEA, which I always do on those early, raw days of spring.
that’s all for now
And I deeply appreciate it if you’ve made it this far. Thank you for all your support of my writing. There are many books to choose from, and for some reason, you enjoyed mine. What an honor <3
Take care of each other and talk soon.
